THE BIG HIGHLIGHT : On Wednesday (14th of September) we got the international hip hop veteran DJ Vadim in the house. You don’t know who Vadim aka Daddy Vad is? Well, he moved from St Petersburg to London at the age of 5, but his music career started a little later in the 90s. Vad bought a sampler and started working on the music that would become Abstract Hallucinating Gases and Headz Ain't Ready EP’s (1995). Later in the year he signed to the iconic record label, Ninja Tune, and so began the whirlwind that is the life of DJ Vadim. Vad is in the music business touring, jamming, remixing and spinning for about 20 years now and worked with Stevie Wonder, Dialated Peoples, DJ Krush & The Roots, just to name a few. This man is a walking music encyclopedia. Excited? You better watch out for the guestlist to open up, because this event will be guestlist only.
Another musical highlight will be Dizz 1 from Australia, who is currently producing for the mighty Roots Manuva. Sydney based turntablist and producer Dizz1 has been involved in the music industry for over 10 years, including 2 years in Japan. Presently Dizz1 has been blowing up all over the place. From playing at Sonar 2010, attending the Red Bull Music Academy in Spain and getting air play from Giles Peterson, Mary Anne Hobbs and Benji B on BBC Radio through to performing alongside the likes of De La Soul, Mos Def, Guilty Simpson, Phat Kat, Benga, The Bug, Starkey, Stereotyp & Cee, N-Type and Loefah. Dizz1 will not just make you dance, but also run a couple of Ableton & Serato workshops together Cee of MONSOON+, who is also hosting the Official Ableton Live User Group KL.
You should just camp in front of Palate Palette that whole week, because we’ve got this and so much more lined up for you. Just a hint, look out for an exhibition involving your favourite Malaysian music celebrities, a reggae night, local indie music performances and movie screenings. The rest is our secret… stay tuned.
