Petaling Jaya (PJ)... The Satellite City to Kuala Lumpur. Much has changed since I left the place for serene Shah Alam. It has now evolved into a city that consists of many interesting things, from the succulent banana leaf rice, to the famous Bukit Gasing, Pee Jay as the locals will always leave an impression to you because of the diversity of the people there. Fellow PJ people will know this is the section where the people there completely disregard the colours of their skin, and live together in peace and harmony. “We” go to the same mamak stall, the same theatres and do activities together as one, completely ignoring the fact we are so different, and focus on how similar we are instead.

Journey to Kuala Lumpur
Flipping through one of the art magazines that are stacked in the office, I began to wonder how those excellent painters could do these paintings, as it looks lively and meaningful. As I focused on the extravagant artworks in the magazine, the doorbell suddenly rang and surprisingly it was Arif, the Art Coordinator for our current event project, Music, Art, Style International Festival 2011 (MASiF). As he came to my table and informed that me and one of my colleagues, Jasmin will be following him to meet with Mr. Liew, Art Director for Art Malaysia. Arif informed us that Mr Liew would be the one who drives us around Kuala Lumpur and Subang Jaya to meet with the artists whom I would be writing a journal about them.

Journey to Malacca
The prospect of interviewing 2 of the artists in Malacca made my day just a little bit interesting than usual. As I stepped out of the office, I can feel the slight chill to the weather, signifying the oncoming of rain. We’re off to a good start it seems.
